MANILA, Philippines — Dormy PH joins Batch 4 of the TomasINNO Center (TIC) – the Technology Business Incubator (TBI) of the University of Santo Tomas.

“We started off with wanting to digitize the college dorm landscape, and engaging with UST-TIC is our way of coming back to building towards this goal – now with the support of UST behind us.” says Kurt Gutierrez, the Co-Founder & CEO of the Dormy PH team.

Dormy PH is the fastest-growing marketplace for finding residential spaces for rent in the Philippines, with a mission to simplify the renting process by digitizing the end-to-end rental ecosystem for all. In 2023, AHG Lab, the largest independent venture studio in the Philippines, backed Dormy PH and welcomed it into its portfolio of startups.

Dormy PH intends to explore closer collaboration with Universities, students

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) forms a key part of the student housing market of the University Belt in Manila, the well-known cluster of major colleges and universities in the Philippines. Boasting a population of over 40,000 students, UST as an internationally-renowned university attracts students from all walks of life, with the majority residing in off-campus accommodation.

“Students form a huge part of the rental market, and this sector is one of the most vulnerable as it’s usually their first time moving out into the city to live a new, more-independent life.” says Sean Francisco, the Co-Founder & Chief Marketing Officer.

Dormy PH, as a new member of the DOST-accredited University TBI, commits itself to fostering relationships and engaging in productive partnerships with schools to promote a safer renting culture for students and faculty alike.

The rental industry has long been due for innovation

The Philippine rental industry, despite massive leaps in technology adoption in the country, has remained as one of the underdeveloped markets in tech integration. Dormy PH holds the mission of making the rental process easier, safer, and faster, with a focus on disruptive tech solutions. In 2023, QBO named Dormy PH as one of the Top 100 startups in last year’s Philippine Startup Week, the youngest company to do so – a testament to the scale and impact of its goals.
